Work parties - what happens when people don't follow the rules?

The Times Online today has an article about what not to do at work parties if you don't want to sabotage your career: Dont have bad breath, dont get drunk, pace yourself and dont embarrass yourself on the dancefloor. Not exactly rocket science. I am a firm believer in learning from other people's mistakes.

So, what is the worst thing to have happened at your work parties? Add your comments but please be kind and remove real names.

I remember one guy I worked with at a work party (that also happened to have clients attending)who decided, after a view jars, to get naked. Not great in itself, but when one of the clients objected, a few punches were thrown. Naked fighting with a client - a brilliant career ending move.

I know of many career ending and embarassing stories from friends of mine in the city. One that stands out is a friend who had landed a job at an eminent stockbrokers was attending his first works Christmas Party. The free champagne and wine was flowing and my friend got quite drunk. The disco music started and he inevitably went dancing on the dancefloor. He decided it would be fun to dance with an older looking chap and began to whisper sweet nothings in his ear such as 'I kill prostitutes' and 'you have soft skin'. Undeknownst to him the older chap happened to be the company chairman. With it being a stockborkers he wasn't sacked but did get a serious reprimand.
